All Glory to the Only Good God
$28.95
The third book in the Reformed Spirituality series, this book again consists of meditations by Protestant Reformed minister and theologian, Herman Hoeksema. The meditations in this volume have in common their living, breathing zeal for the glory of the good God. God is only goodāgood in himself; good in creation; good in salvation; good in Christ; good to his elect people.
This set of beautiful meditations demonstrates that genuine spirituality rises from and ends in the glory of God, for the zeal of the soul for God's glory is the most profound spirituality. And because the Spirit works spirituality by sound doctrine, spirituality exists and flourishes by means of sound instruction in biblical, Reformed doctrine.
All Glory to the Only Good God is part of the Reformed Spirituality series comprised of meditations written by Herman Hoeksema.

Bound to Join (eBook)

Some professing Christians deny the necessity of church membership. Others join a church for unsubstantial reasons or leave a church for trivial, often selfish reasons. Many remain members of apostatizing churches because of family or traditional ties. Some Christians find themselves in areas or countries where no true church exists or can be formed. They ask, sometimes in anguish, "What must we do?"
Seemingly forgotten today is the truth that Jesus Christ institutes his catholic church in organized congregations that are clearly identified by objective marks. These are true churches, in distinction from false and apostatizing churches.
In the form of letters to an inquiring (though not always appreciative) European audience, this book addresses the issue of church membership in the twenty-first century.Ā This instruction is applicable to all believers and is based on scripture, the Belgic Confession, and the important, but little known, controversy of John Calvin with the Nicodemites.

Called to Watch for Christ's Return
$14.95
A few days before Jesus gave his life on the cross, his disciples asked, āWhat shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?ā (Matt. 24:3). Christ responded with the Olivet Discourse, a detailed teaching on the doctrine of the last things.
We need to understand the signs of Christās coming for our comfort as we look for āthat blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christā (Titus 2:13).
Christ had two concerns. First, his disciples must know the signs of his coming, which are footsteps of his approach. But Christ is not satisfied with mere āsign-gazing,ā which can lead to speculation and idle, foolish living. He did not give signs to satisfy our curiosities, but so that we will be ready for him when he returns. Therefore, Christās second concern was the readiness of his disciples, which is expressed in his urgent and repeated warnings to watch for his coming in light of the signs.
Watch, pray, and serve the Lord with an eye to the signs of his return!

Rewards.
For many Christians, this word is a cause for fear and suspicion. It suggests doctrines of merit and a salvation based on works, as well as other ideas at odds with the teachings of the Christian faith.
But that need not be so.
In this accessible book, Brian Huizinga offers a rare historical and theological exposition of the biblical and Reformed teaching on the oft-neglected topic of the rewards of grace for the saintsāin both the present life and in the life to come. Excluding any merit, and in full harmony with his sovereign and particular grace, the Lord indeed promises to reward the good works of believers. Far from unbiblical or dangerous, the truth of rewards occupies a surprisingly large and important place in Scripture. As such, it demands our attention. Crowning His Gifts will help all believers better grasp this topic by deepening their understanding of salvation in Christ and by offering fresh encouragements for a renewed life of godly zeal, to Godās glory.
Ā
What others are saying about the book:
"The relation between our good works and Godās rewards is unavoidable because our Lord himself often made this connection. Today, also because of the prosperity gospel, many are confused. In this book, with its wonderfully fitting title, Brian Huizinga builds on the spiritual and theological wisdom of Augustine, Calvin, Francis Turretin, Abraham Kuyper, Herman Bavinck, and Herman Hoeksema, among others, and provides a reliable guide through the tricky shoals of this subject. Huizingaās treatment is biblically grounded and confessionally sound in its careful distinctions, clear definitions, and appropriate cautions. This is a groundbreaking, thorough, practical, and timely book."
ā John Bolt, Professor emeritus of systematic theology, Calvin Theological Seminary (Grand Rapids, MI), editor of Herman Bavinckās English editionsĀ of Reformed Dogmatics and Reformed Ethics
"The author shows that the doctrine of Godās rewards for our works is in line with the Reformed traditionā¦Crowning His Gifts is a solid, biblical, Reformed study of our covenantal relationship with God. Pick up this book and read it carefully!"

Defense of the Church Institute, A (eBook)
$17.95
The statement in Article 28 of the Belgic Confession that all believers are āin duty bound to join and unite themselves withā an instituted church that has the three marks of the true church has proved to be controversial in North America and Europe. Engelsmaās recent book,Ā Bound to Join, addresses the doctrine of church membership and has received criticism from both expected and unexpected critics.
This book answers those critics, defending the doctrine of church membership and demonstrating that love for the universal, invisible church invariably expresses itself by love for the manifestation of this church in the church institute. This book also examines the "house church" movement and the claim by such men as Harold Camping that the church age has ended.

Job: God's Sovereignty in Suffering
$20.45
Ā Ā Click to look inside
The book of Job is Godās commentary on the suffering and trials of his people. The book describes suffering on a scale seldom seen but shows our weaknesses and the temptations we face when under the hand of God or when called to bring comfort to others who are suffering. For that reason it is instructive and corrective but is also of great comfort, for it points those who are suffering to Godās sovereignty in trials and to his faithfulness and saving grace to his own.
God speaks to our trials from the viewpoint, first, of his own interactions with Satan, then from the viewpoint of Jobās interactions with his friends, and finally as the one who appears to Job and his friends in a tornado.
This work is not meant to be an exhaustive, verse-by-verse explanation of the book of Job but is an attempt to show how the book fits together and leads up to its grand climax in the appearance of God. It also attempts to show that Job has often been misunderstood and maligned, and though guilty of sin, as we all are in suffering, is nevertheless one whose faith and hope in God are sure. May it be of help to all who love God as Job did, especially when the God they love chastises and corrects them as he does all of his children.

Lessons in Forgiveness (eBook)
$19.95
Based on a series of sermons preached in the summer of 2012 to the Limerick Reformed Fellowship,Ā Lessons in Forgiveness details the author's study of an overlooked chapter in the New Testament. This little letter breathes forth the gospel message of reconciliation, a subject often fraught with difficulty when its application in the church is attempted.
It seems that everywhere we look today, we see conflict: in the world, which, because of its rebellion against God, is doomed never to enjoy peace; in marriages, even Christian marriages; in homes, even in Christian homes; and in churches. The little letter to Philemon contains principles of peace which we would be wise to followāespecially since, as the children of God, we are called to be peacemakers.Ā

Lessons in Forgiveness: An Exposition of Philemon
$23.95
Paul writes a letter to Philemon, his friend and fellow believer. It is delivered by a special carrier: Onesimus, Philemonās runaway slave. But Onesimus is not the same man who fled from his master: he is now a Christian. As such, Onesimus desires reconciliation with Philemon. Sharing Onesimusā desire, Paul uses his letter to instruct Philemon, Onesimus, and every Christian about true repentance and what it means to have a forgiving and reconciling heart.
It seems that everywhere we look today, we see conflict: in the world, which, because of its rebellion against God, is doomed never to enjoy peace; in marriages, even Christian marriages; in homes, even in Christian homes; and in churches. Based on a series of sermons preached in the summer of 2012 to the Limerick Reformed Fellowship,Ā Lessons in Forgiveness details the author's study of an overlooked chapter in the New Testament. In this book about Paulās often neglected epistle, Martyn McGeown expounds truths that are vital for the lives of all Christiansātruths that flow out of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, who has forgiven us and reconciled us to the Father.

Life in the Covenant (eBook)
$19.95
Ā
God said to Abraham, āI will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after theeā (Gen. 17:7; cf. Lev. 26:12, Ezek. 37:27, Jer. 30:22). This covenant is the intimate relationship of fellowship he has chosen to share with his people in Jesus Christ. God has blessed his Old and New Testament church by way of the truth of the covenant even as he blessed Abraham.
The truth of the covenant comforts us in distress, encourages us in our battle against our enemies, and gives strength when we are weak. We as believers must embrace the truth of Godās covenant by developing and nurturing a worldview that is rooted in the blessed relationship which our heavenly Father has made with us in Christ.
With the heart of a pastor and the passion of a preacher, the author has written this book to help believers combat the threatening influences of both the world and our own sin upon the Christian home and church.
As a practical exposition of the doctrine of Godās covenant, this volume will aid children of the covenant in directing their lives unto the triune Godā in the family, among other saints, and as they live in the midst of an unbelieving world.

On the night before he was betrayed, Jesus ate his last meal with his disciples. The heavy weight of the cross bore down on him, yet his focus lay not on his own suffering, but on his imminent departure and what this meant for his disciples.
The Upper Room Discourse of John 14ā16 records the words of great comfort Jesus gave his disciples. He must indeed go away from them. But by doing so, Jesus would bridge the gap between creature and Creator; between earth and heaven; and between sinners and the holy, just God. Jesus is the way to the Father, and it was only through the way of the cross and his resurrection and ascension that his people could be reconciled to the Father and receive the Comforter and life.
With clear and pastoral applications to the church today, author Martyn McGeown leads us into the upper room to hear Jesusā instruction alongside the disciples. It is in the upper room that we receive Jesusā exhortations and encouragement, heed his warnings, and appropriate his comfort through faith.

How many Christians can confidently say that they have āmasteredā the art of prayer?Ā Probably no one.Ā Hankoās work,Ā When You Pray, is blessedly refreshing in his admission that none of us is good at prayerāincluding himself. Yet, over the years of oneās life, the author assures us, a personĀ canĀ make progress in praying.Ā
Hanko shares with his readers homely yet highly meaningful lessons he learned from growing up in a covenant family and covenantal church community. He also details the specific benefits of praying to the sovereign God of the universe, who knows our sins and weaknesses but loves us still. Valuable is this clear explanation of how God can be likened to the father of an earthly family, loving and caring for his own dear children.Ā Eye-opening and helpful too is the authorās pinpointing of misconceptions people have about God and prayer that bar them from praying in a God-honoring way.Ā
If you have found your devotional life to be frequently barren, reading what the author has learned the hard way over fifty years in ministry will give you a renewed desire to fellowship with your Father in prayer.
Ā
